Our Foundation Repair Solutions

At Foundation Support Specialists, we strive to get ahead of the problem and implement one of the following foundation repair solutions before they turn into something more serious. If you notice one or more of these causes of foundation problems, it’s time to reach out to the professionals for help.

Helical Piers

The clay soils in central and south Texas have a tendency to expand and contract over time. Unfortunately, when the ground around a foundation moves, the slab the house rests on tends to move with it, which causes cracks and other foundation problem signs. Helical piers are a fantastic long-lasting solution that provides adequate support to a foundation in areas where it has settled unevenly.

Helical piers look like large metal screws. We use a hydraulic drill to screw the piers into the ground until they reach a deep solid layer. Once installed, the pier holds up the foundation and prevents it from sinking any further.

Push Piers

Push piers serve a similar function to helical piers; only they can support a more significant load. As such, push piers are the preferred choice when dealing with extensive foundation damage. Unlike helical piers, push piers are not shaped like screws. Once we drive a push pier to the desired depth, we pin it to the side of the foundation or slab to keep it in place. In doing this, the weight of the home is transferred to the mounting plates, which are now supported by the pier rather than the soil alone.

Pier & Beam Foundation Repair

If your home is not built on a slab foundation, it is likely supported by a pier and beam setup. Helical and push pier systems will not support this type of foundation, but we offer several other options that will.

Sonotubes are hollow forms that we insert and fill with concrete. Once the concrete hardens, it will act as a new column and take some of the load off the older, weaker piers.

Another option for pier and beam foundation repair in San Antonio is shoring up the existing piers. For shoring beams, we install new timber piers alongside the existing ones. This strengthens the pier and enables it to carry a larger load.

Crawl space jacks are another great way to provide added support to supplement lost capacity caused by damaged or rotten floor joists.
